Old Station, Powerstock SY522.953

Site description: Disused quarry.

Geology: Jurassic, Inferior Oolite. A 100m section with 2m height. The main exposure is in the Top Limestones of the Inferior Oolite but at the top is some 8-10 cm. of rubbly Zigzag Bed. Fossils include ammonites, belemnites, gastropods and bivalves.

Access: At Nettlecombe, follow Marsh Farm Only sign. Safe access. By prior arrangement, e-mail us for contact details.

Parking: Parking in owners’ garden. Owners well used to visitors for geology and natural history.
